Wondering why your anthurium plant is not giving flowers profusely? Well, then here are 5 reasons to why your plants flowers are dis formed, small and ugly or not even there.

1. Low lighting

Just like smartgardenguide.com told "Anthuriums are picky about their environment,". Unlike other plants that have flowering seasons, anthuriums seem to bloom quite all year - round, so if you notice no flowers for a long period, that's the time to worry.

Low lighting is an enemy for anthurums, they prefer indirect light that suffices their need. Make sure your plant is kept in a place that provides an adequate amount of indirect light for them.

Although these plants make your home stunning, indoors wouldn't be the perfect abode for them, if you choose to keep them indoors just like I do, you'd want to keep them at your windowsill for at least one hour to attain some morning sunlight.

I'm rather a selfish person as I hate things or plants not in their place, so I'd keep my plant for one hour out but I'd suggest you to be more generous than me and treat them with three hours in order that they would present to us their stunning appearance.

2. Direct light

As most of my neighbors do, keeping anthuruims overly in the sun could make you a torturer as they aren't able to produce healthy flowers, new leaves often are burned or sometimes brown. They might have flowers, but it would be dis shaped, overly small, or even faded foliage.

Keep your anthruim, again, in a perfect spot that has indirect sunlight, too much of sunlight will effect it in bad ways as well as too much of shade.

3. Unhealthy soil

Provide your plant with healthy soil consisting off, fertilizer, peat moss, orchid soil or perlite will make an anthurium feel good to be home.

Anthuriums prefer soil that is highly rich in nitrogen so visit your nursery and seek advise on the perfect amount of fertilizer to add along with regular soil.

4. Over watering

Just like any plant, don't over water your anthurium as they are extra fussy. Soggy soil prevents an anthurium to live it's best life, make sure to water only when the soil gives an indication which is being dry and harden. Don't unnecessarily water as it would lead to root rot. Again, accentuating this point, don't give poor drainage as it's fatal.

5. Under watering

Under watering would cause your plants leaves to wilt off and dis form so don't go into that extreme also. If your living in a very humid area, your plant's soil will naturally get dried more often so water it generously and wait till it's dry again.

So next time you notice your anthurium not flowering, try to identify which of these mistake you are doing and rectify your plants health.
