I've built attachments to certain plants and my favoritism has increased for them within the couple months, I believe when I get a new plant that gets recovered by an illness I personally have a high attachment to that plant regardless of it's appearance as a bond is formed, seeing how improved it has become. That said, I then begin to like that plant type because of my memories with them.
Here I'll show you my top ten favorite house plants that I highly suggest you to get if you don't have them yet!
1. Pothos
Although I haven't had pothos plants in abundance, I've really loved them as they create an aesthetic background, especially because of their way of hanging unlike other plants. It impresses me to see how they elegantly push themselves in to the air.
They don't really flower unless in certain conditions so for a flower lover these plants aren't suitable, however the foliage does the job as they come in many variegated versions.
2. Calatheas
I only have the peacock ginger plant from this family, but I wish to have many as these plants because drive me into my dream world. I can't express what stunners they are, they contains bright coulored foliage that often look unrealistic due to their overwhelming beauty and texture, I love the way they have multiple colours, the upper part of the leave has one colour whist the below another, it's jut overly astonishing especially when you see all the rare well wished varieties.
3. Dumbcanes
Aside from my unrealistic calathea cravings,I'm glad to say I've fulfilled my dumbcane cravings. I was surely lucky enough to find wild dumbcanes growing in my neighbor hood, they were unhealthy and needed water also coated in dust, so after asking our neighbor we took them as they were disowned.
Gladly enough, they got healthy and i'm able to proudly display them indoors, but I keep them every other day out because they get discoloured.
4. Devil's backbone
I only had one variegated version of these plants, it was so obsessed till powdery mildew killed it, since then it revived but my joy cannot be recovered anymore. I'd say that I see these plants amazing due to their distinctive pattern of how the leaves grow on the zig-zag stem. I currently have another darker version of this plant and it has been okay living with me, it belonged to my grandma and she gifted it to me, although it's quite healthy, it doesn't look as pretty as it was initially, maybe because it misses it's original mum.
5. Swiss cheese plant
More than finding these plants lovely, I find them adorable! They just make me feel like I'm glancing at a green delicate piece of lovely cheese! I'm so glad to say I've been quite successful keeping them, I also have propagated many babies and they are doing just as well! I love these plants more due to the fact that they are extra stunning when they wrap or even dangle down and peer.
6. Arrow head vine
This plant is such a charmer, that I believe anyone would be drawn to it as it's so attractive.I don't really keep them indoors though as they turn so pale and loose their foliage brightness. I personally prefer them indoors but due to it's factors to keep it healthy I really cannot accomplish that. But certainly I think, it anyways brightens outdoors!
7. Purple shamrock
Apart from my enthusiasm for shamrock leaves, I'm always in love with flowers mainly as they just brighten up everything! So I prefer mine with a blooming explosion although that never happens sadly. I always wonder why certain plants look so idealistic but when I take them to my hands they become not very healthy, that's sometimes the case with my shamrocks.
8. Spider plants
I used to really love spider plants so I put them under this list, I even posted my tips and tricks on how I used to keep mine healthy, they worked well until...scale irrupted. It was a disaster and I can't forget that day how I was practically forced by the scale to throw my beloved plants.
9. Chinese evergreens
For me, preferably I love the red foliaged ones as they are incomparable to other plants, crimson, maroon, rosy pink and deep red in mostly involved in these variegated types.
10. Rubber plant
More than the astounding height of this plant, I focus on it's leaves, they look so shiny when wiped consistently, and smooth. I get so excited always seeing my plant get leaves nearly every 3 days, it makes me realize what care for something leads to.
